In collaboration, Glen Foerd and the Center for Art in Wood present Steam Bending and Basket Weaving, a cross-disciplinary workshop with artists Brian Skalaski and Janine Wang. During this two-day workshop, participants will combine steam bending and basket weaving to create sculptures and functional objects that embody each discipline’s organic and material characteristics.

In the first session, we will cover the principles of steam bending. Participants will learn to create their own simple steam bending jigs to make unique and dynamic bends in wood. In the second session, participants will learn the fundamentals of basket weaving, then learn how to apply these to their steam-bent structures, giving volume and form to their wooden lines.

This workshop is on both Saturday, June 18th and Saturday, June 25th from 10 AM-3 PM
