An Evening with Mozart

  • Glen Foerd 5001 Grant Avenue Philadelphia, PA, 19114 United States (map)

Enjoy the rare experience of Mozart and Haydn’s piano works performed as the composers intended: on a period instrument in a private home.

Did you know that Mozart didn’t compose for the modern piano? He composed for Viennese fortepianos — early pianos that are profoundly different from Steinways. And, piano music was meant to entertain relatively small audiences in stately homes rather than in today’s large concert halls.

Vienna-based fortepianist Daniel Adam Maltz performs using the performance practices and instruments familiar to the composers.

This performance is made possible through the generosity of Mr. Dale VanSant. Additional support is provided by Karen Kruza and Richard Quinn.

Guests will be required to show proof of vaccination upon entry.

This performance will be located in the Art Gallery on the second floor of the mansion.

Daniel Adam Maltz is a fortepianist based in Vienna, Austria. He is devoted to performing on the historic Viennese fortepianos used by Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven — utilizing the vast range of tones and colors familiar to the composers. Daniel studied historical performance at the Royal Academy of Music in London and at Vienna’s University for Music and Performing Arts.
