Glen Foerd's Ecology: Guided Tour and BioBlitz!

  • Glen Foerd 5001 Grant Avenue Philadelphia, PA, 19114 United States (map)

Join conservationist Chris Blume on this one-of-a-kind outdoor, guided tour focused on the ecology of Glen Foerd’s unique riverfront site.

In this progam, participants will learn about our vibrant local ecosystem as well as conservation efforts relevant to Glen Foerd's site, like beekeeping and pollinator gardens. Together we will explore the history of the grounds and learn about how different plants and animals on site support each other. The program will be part outdoor guided-tour, part BioBlitz -- an activity focused on finding and identifying species on the grounds. Participants will learn how to identify local plants and animals, using the iNaturalist App, gathering a snapshot of biodiversity at Glen Foerd.

This program is part of an interpretation project focused on Glen Foerd's grounds. In late 2021, Glen Foerd will launch a new audio tour incorporating field recordings, which, like the species tracking done in a BioBlitz, are gathered by individuals to record the wildlife present on site.
