Evening Bat Walk at Glen Foerd

  • Glen Foerd 5001 Grant Avenue Philadelphia, PA, 19114 United States (map)

Join our Environmental team for a walk and talk about the world’s only flying mammal—the bat! Discover the different types of bats found in this area, learn about their fascinating behaviors, and what to do if you have bats in your home. We’ll also discuss the impact of White-nose syndrome and other environmental hurdles plaguing bats.

Our walk will end around a small bonfire where we can continue the talk, ask questions, and hopefully spot bats feasting overhead.

What to bring:

Closed toed shoes (we will be walking on varied terrain)

Clothes comfortable for the weather (note the evening temperature)

Flashlight

Re-usable water bottle

Insect repellent

Camp chair (optional)

** No bats will be available to handle or see up close. This is an exploration of the grounds where we will likely see bats flying overhead. Staff will also have a device that identifies species by sound. **
