This multimedia production features the world premiere of perennial, an art film by collaborators Elliot deBruyn (cinematographer), Erin Busch (composer), Savannah Green (lead dancer), Jerard Palazo (supporting dancer), and Sean Bailey (audio engineer). Largely filmed in the Wissahickon, the film follows lead dancer Savannah through various states of reality and dream state, and is meant to abstractly illustrate the experience of processing grief over time through dissociation and memory. The concept for the project stems from the collective experience of wanting to reenter the world while simultaneously withdrawing from it, and attempting to find solace in the eternal, natural cycles of growth and decay. The piece is divided into four movements with a brief interlude, and is scored for flute, alto flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, violin, viola, cello, double bass, electric guitar, and drum set.
“perennial, and other works for dance” will open with live dance by Savannah Green and Jerard Palazo, choreographed to chamber music composed by Erin Busch. This will be followed by the premiere of a new composition for clarinet and electronics by Erin Busch, which will be performed live by Sean Bailey. perennial will be screened after a brief intermission
