ArtsFest

  • Glen Foerd 5001 Grant Avenue Philadelphia, PA, 19114 United States (map)

Join us for a celebration of new works by Shira Walinsky, the 2024 Glen Foerd Artist-in-Residence. We'll have live music on the lawn by Whirled Music (a folk group with international flavor), featuring Phyllis Chapell (vocals/guitar), Ken Ulansey (woodwinds), Dave Posmontier (keyboard), and Paul Jost (drums/vocals).

Food will be available for purchase from WokWorks and drinks can be purchased from our cash bar. Visit our free arts & crafts table to create mosaic tiles with our Lily P.A.D.S. youth program educators. Bring a blanket or some chairs and enjoy the grounds and mansion, which will be open for free self-guided tours.

Bat Tumbagas, an art installation by Sarahbella Rocha will also be on display in front of the Water Tower. This art piece celebrates the significance of bats in ecosystems worldwide and the artist’s Pijao ancestral background. This artist utilized their background in tailoring to celebrate their ancestor’s tumbagas, Ancient pre-Columbian Mesoamerican metal hammering, with gold fabrics that sway in the wind, shine in the sun, glow in the moonlight, and sparkle in the rain at Glen Foerd. Make sure to stop by as Sarahbella and our Environmental Team lead guests in a creative bat-themed craft.

Both exhibitions will be on view through the Fall.
