Join us for an exhibition of the work of jeweler and sailor Barb Baur, displayed in the view of the Delaware River.
On view in the first-floor library from June 30th to July 31st, 2024.
The artist will share information about their unique design process, which often incorporates 3D printing, hand dyeing, and traditional jewelry-making techniques. “Much of the work will revolve around the forms of ships and the waters near Philadelphia,” said Baur. “I have always felt an affinity for the water.” Baur’s company, Fair Winds Jewelry, produces and sells a number of pieces of jewelry with nautical themes.
Barb Baur, who you may recognize from our many programs with Tacony LAB Community Arts Center, creates sculptural jewelry that combines the use of computer design and 3D printing with traditional techniques such as lost wax casting. Barb is a professor at Tyler School of Art, Temple University, and received her MFA in Metals/Jewelry/CAD-CAM from Tyler.
