More about the ensemble:
Matt Davis’ Aerial Photograph is a “wildly imaginative” (Jazziz Magazine") ensemble that explores the intersection of jazz, contemporary classical, and folk music, as well as social, cultural, and historical observation through aural histories. Described as “Inspired” by Downbeat Magazine and “Eloquent” by JazzTimes, the group has performed throughout the eastern United States, as well as in China and South Korea. The instrumentation of the group varies but often consists of voices, guitars, percussion, and wind instruments. To hear Matt's music, please visit www.mattdavisguitar.com.
More about the music:
Informed by folk music, popular songs, jazz, and improvised music, Matt’s music is a beautiful mix of styles that come together in a new and exciting expression. Much of Matt’s new music grew out of the year (+) that we all spent at home from 3/2020 onward. The ensemble is an oddball collection of found sounds and acoustic instruments played by six of the most creative and talented musicians around. Matt sings and plays songs on the guitar about his children, the passing of time, the cycles of water, and our place in the universe – all the normal things that people think about during a global pandemic.
