Glen Foerd’s 2022-2023 Teaching Artists in Residence hosted three weekends of free and creative flower centered workshops.

Flowers and Memory: This workshop was centered around the preservation of memory through flowers. Conversations around preservation usually revolve around paper or digital items such as photographs or home videos, rarely do we reflect on the more organic items that attach themselves to important events and how to preserve them. Whether preserving flowers from your wedding, the corsage from your prom night, or the flowers given at a homegoing, Marvin, and Marcellus, went over different techniques and gave a hands-on tutorial on preserving a bouquet.

Floral Crown Workshops: One of the most popular workshops was designing a floral crown using seasonal flowers.

Interactive Personality Quiz: Marvin and Marcellus taught visitors about the history of floriography–the meaning of flowers–through an interactive personality quiz created my Marcellus. At the end of the workshop, participants left with a handcrafted and unique flower to match their personality.
