Hotter, Wetter, Weirder: Climate Change in Philadelphia with Mike Weilbacher

  • Glen Foerd 5001 Grant Avenue Philadelphia, PA, 19114 United States (map)

Climate change is already impacting Philadelphia, as seen by Hurricane Ida’s 2021 record-setting flooding and Canadian wildfire smoke blanketing the region in 2023. Locally, our climate is getting hotter, wetter, and decidedly weirder. What is the evidence for climate change locally? What are the trends for temperature and rainfall? And what will happen to the Delaware River as our climate warms?

You’ll not only be surprised by the data but motivated to find solutions-- there are many! In this must-see lecture, naturalist Mike Weilbacher walks you through the science while carefully answering your questions and weaving in politics and pop culture.

Mike, the author of Wild Philly, travels the area presenting lectures, workshops, and field trips on important topics around nature and the environment, and last year piloted a nature walk for Glen Foerd’s incredible landscape.
